Jeffrey Limmer was a “good Samaritan” who attempted to de-escalate a situation between a customer and McDonald’s employees

A man was fatally shot by another McDonald’s customer after he tried to defend employees.

On Saturday (May 4) at approximately 6:00 p.m., Houston Police received reports of a shooting outside a McDonald’s location at 8147 Katy Freeway, West Houston.

Police report that a customer yelled at employees after having a problem with his order and demanded a refund.

Jeffrey Limmer, a fellow customer and associate at a local law firm, was also at McDonald’s at the time and reportedly attempted to calm the customer and de-escalate the situation, but the customer then turned his anger on him.

The customer and the 46-year-old lawyer then reportedly left the fast food restaurant and Limmer pushed the customer, who reportedly landed on the floor.

Investigators say the customer then went to his vehicle – a blue Ford pickup – and retrieved a gun, allegedly shooting the attorney before fleeing the scene in his car.

A friend of Limmer’s, Greg Monteverde, told Fox 26 Houston that it was like a “deep punch in the gut” when he learned of the lawyer’s death.

“I know many of us are still in shock,” he added.

Limmer’s sister Jennifer Thomas told Only13: “He loved passionately. He loved his family and his friends. He was always laughing, always joking and loved life.”

Reflecting on the reports that Limmer died after trying to help McDonald’s employees, she continued, “Knowing Jeff, he’s the one who always says, ‘Calm down. It’s not that big of a deal’ and deflects the situation.”

“He always wanted to fight for the little guy and do the right thing. And he was very steadfast in his beliefs and was just conservative in his values and his morals.”

“He was a good Samaritan who tried to do the right thing and just wouldn’t let the employers at McDonald’s have to go through that.”
