Redding man arrested for gun possession following child sex abuse investigation | News

SHASTA COUNTY, California. – A Redding man was arrested Tuesday for possession of an assault weapon and possession of high-capacity magazines during a child sexual abuse investigation, the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office said.

At around 8 a.m., detectives from the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office’s AB109 Compliance Team and the Shasta Interagency Narcotics Task Force assisted Homeland Security Investigations in a search for child sexual abuse material, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The person under investigation was 52-year-old Timothy Carl Guinn, the sheriff’s office said. The search warrant was issued for the 20000 block of Sudan Lane in Redding.

During the search, 12 firearms were found, the sheriff’s office said. One of the weapons, an AR-15-style rifle, did not have a California firearm configuration, the sheriff’s office said.

Due to the rifle’s characteristics, it was classified as an assault weapon, the sheriff’s office said. Detectives and HSI agents also found high-capacity gun magazines and ammunition in the house.

The sheriff’s office then approved a separate search warrant to seize the weapons and related items, the sheriff’s office said.

Guinn was arrested at the scene and transported to the Shasta County Jail. The Shasta County District Attorney’s Office may file additional weapons charges against Guinn.

The Homeland Security Investigations investigation was separate from the Sheriff’s Office case, so there is no update on the child sexual assault case at this time.
