Woman killed, 2 children injured in accident in Spartanburg, South Carolina, police say

IT’S TIME FOR THE NEWS. WE’RE TAKING A LOOK AT THE TOP NEWS OF THE DAY, THE TRAFFIC AND THE WEATHER BEFORE YOU GET OUT THE DOOR. WE’RE STARTING WITH CONTINUING COVERAGE OF THE GUILTY TRIAL OF FORMER PRESIDENT TRUMP THIS MORNING. WE’VE BEEN FOLLOWING THIS CLOSELY, AND THE FORMER PRESIDENT IS PROMISING TO APPEAL HIS CONVICTION FOR FORGERING BUSINESS RECORDS TO INFLUENCE THE 2016 ELECTION. A NEW YORK CITY JURY FOUND HIM GUILTY ON 34 COUNTS OF PAYING TO HIDE NEWS OF AN ALLEGED AFFAIR WITH A REAL MOVIE STAR. WASHINGTON BUREAU CORRESPONDENT JACKIE DEFUSCO JOINS US WITH MORE INFORMATION. ERIN, THIS CONVICTION DOES NOT LEGALLY PREVENT DONALD TRUMP FROM RUNNING OR SERVING FOR THE PRESIDENTIAL OFFICE AGAIN, AND HIS CAMPAIGN IS ALREADY USING IT TO BOOST HIS WHITE HOUSE CHANCES. CHECK OUT HIS CAMPAIGN WEBSITE. THE CAMPAIGN REPORTED A FLOOD OF FUNDRAISING DOLLARS WITHIN JUST HOURS OF THAT VERDICT. REPUBLICANS LIKE HOUSE SPEAKER MIKE JOHNSON RUSHED TO TRUMP’S DEFENSE, SAID, QUOTE, THIS WAS PURELY A POLITICAL EXERCISE, NOT A LEGAL ONE. IN A STATEMENT, PRESIDENT BIDEN’S CAMPAIGN SAID THE CONVICTION SHOWS NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW, BUT EMPHASIZED THE ONLY WAY TO BEAT TRUMP IS AT THE BALLOT BOX. AND A NEW NPR MARIST POLL RELEASED JUST HOURS BEFORE THE VERDICT ON THURSDAY. MOST VOTERS SAID A CONVICTION WOULD NOT AFFECT THEIR DECISION IN THIS CAMPAIGN, WITH ABOUT 17% SAID THEY WOULD BE LESS LIKELY TO VOTE FOR DONALD TRUMP, WHILE ABOUT 15% SAID THEY WOULD BE MORE LIKELY TO SUPPORT HIM IF HE WAS FOUND GUILTY. TRUMP’S CRIMINAL TRIAL IS SCHEDULED FOR JULY 11, JUST DAYS BEFORE HE ACCEPTS THE REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL NOMINATION IN WASHINGTON. I’M JACKIE DEFUSCO, WYFF NEWS FOUR. WE’LL ALSO HEAR REACTION FROM SEVERAL LOCAL LAWYERS THIS MORNING. US SENATOR LINDSEY GRAHAM OF SOUTH CAROLINA POSTS ON X AND SHARES A STATEMENT WITH OUR EDITORS SAID, IN PARTS, “I EXPECT THIS TRIAL TO BE OVERTURNED ON APPEAL AND THAT DONALD TRUMP WILL BE ELECTED PRESIDENT IN NOVEMBER.” END QUOTE: REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR HENRY MCMASTER POSTS ON X: “THE AMERICAN PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THAT THIS TRIAL WAS NOTHING MORE THAN A POLITICAL ATTACK ON PRESIDENT TRUMP. WE WILL RESPOND DECISIVELY AT THE BALLOT BOX IN NOVEMBER AND BRING HIM BACK TO THE WHITE HOUSE.” END QUOTE. SENATOR TIM SCOTT POSTED HIS SUPPORT FOR TRUMP ON SOCIAL MEDIA AFTER THE VERDICT WAS ANNOUNCED. THE SOUTH CAROLINA REPUBLICAN IS WIDELY SEEN AS ONE OF THE LEADING CONTENDERS TO BE TRUMP’S RUNNING RUN. SCOTT CALLED THE VERDICT A, QUOTE, A Sham, A Sham, AND AN ABSOLUTE INJUSTICE. I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS Sham. THIS Sham, THIS ABSOLUTE INJUSTICE, THIS JUSTICE SYSTEM, THIS GARBAGE, AND THE JUDGE SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF HIMSELF. THIS IS NOT JUST RIDICULOUS. THIS ACTUALLY UNDERMINE THE TRUST AMERICANS HAVE IN THE JUSTICE SYSTEM. AND SOUTH CAROLINA’S ONLY DEMOCRATIC U.S. REPRESENTATIVE JIM CLYBURN POSTED ON X, QUOTE, “THE JURY HAS SPEAKED. JUSTICE HAS WON,” END QUOTE. A BOIL WATER ADVISORY HAS BEEN LIFTED FOR NEARLY 10,000 CUSTOMERS IN GREER AFTER A WATER LINE BREAK ALONG HIGHWAY 14 AND GREER WEDNESDAY MORNING. OFFICIALS SAY THE CAUSE WAS A BROKEN VALVE AFTER WORKERS FLUSHED WATER LINES AND HYDRANTS. WATER SAMPLES WERE SENT TO THE LAB YESTERDAY MORNING SHORTLY AFTER SIX. IT TOOK 24 HOURS FOR THE RESULTS TO BE IN AND THIS MORNING
