Two dead in the Iberia community, apparently murder-suicide

IBERIA PARISH, Louisiana (KLFY) — Two people were killed in a suspected murder-suicide in Iberia Parish, authorities said.

Officers with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting in the 6000 block of Coteau Road on Thursday. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 49-year-old woman with multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her 50-year-old husband was later found dead in a nearby field on Coteau Road from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Authorities said this case appears to be a domestic incident. The investigation is ongoing. The identities of the dead have not yet been released and further details are not available at this time.
