Butner Public Safety Incident Reports

On May 17, PSO JR Vaughan arrested James Samuel Strater Jr., age 54, of Oxford, for failure to appear in court. Mr. Strater was given a $2,000 bond by Judge HG Herring Jr. and transported to the Granville County Detention Center.

On May 19, a scam was reported on Highway 56. The suspect returned merchandise that was missing from the box and received cash in return.

On May 19, PSO AH Creech arrested Jose Fernandez, age 47, of Essex, Maryland, and charged him with DUI and obstructing the flow of traffic. Mr. Fernandez was given a $2,500 bond by Judge HG Herring Jr. and transported to the Granville County Detention Center.

On May 20, PSO MB Butler arrested Ricky Deantwan Landis, age 29, of Oxford and charged him with illegal possession of a firearm. Mr. Landis was sentenced to $10,000 bail by Judge CF Knott and transported to the Granville County Detention Center.

On May 21, an assault and theft were reported on East B Street. An argument broke out between a girlfriend and boyfriend and money was also stolen.

May 21st an attack was reported on 22nd.and Street. As a result of the incident, PSO AH Creech arrested Sedrick Sirious Blackwell, age 42, of Oxford and charged him with assault on a female. Mr. Blackwell was released without bail by Judge CF Knott and transported to the Granville County Detention Center.

On May 21, a burglary, theft, and property damage incident was reported on Capitol Drive. The suspect(s) damaged two vending machines and stole cash.

On May 21, property damage was reported on East C Street. The suspect poured bleach on the victim’s clothing.
