16-year-old killed in shooting in North Charleston on Saturday

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCBD) – A Wadmalaw Island teenager was the victim of a shooting in North Charleston on Saturday, the Charleston County Coroner’s Office said.

The 16-year-old was found dead of a gunshot wound near Dorchester Road after North Charleston police responded to a call about a shooting. News 2 is not identifying any minors.


On Saturday at 4:22 p.m., officers responded to the area of ​​Kent Avenue and Bailey Drive after witnesses reported hearing gunshots in the area. While on patrol, officers located a juvenile victim with two gunshot wounds to the left forearm.

The minor was found at the CARTA bus stop and taken to a local hospital. Officers continued to search the area and later found the dead 16-year-old.

On the day the shooting occurred, police said, “Our investigators believe this was an isolated incident involving individuals who visited and lived at the home.”

No arrests have been made in this case and the North Charleston Police Department’s investigation is ongoing.
