Three dead in accident at intersection of Highway 81/Highway 34 East in York

YORK, Nebraska (KOLN) – Three people were killed in a traffic accident at the intersection of Highway 81 and Highway 34 East in York on Friday evening.

According to the York County Sheriff’s Office, multiple reports of an accident involving a semi-trailer truck and an SUV were received at 8:30 p.m.

The sheriff’s department said three occupants of the SUV were pronounced dead at the scene. A fourth occupant of the SUV and two occupants of the semi-trailer were taken to York General Hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.

The scene of the accident was closed for several hours so that the police could carry out their investigation. It has now been reopened.

To inform friends and family, the Sheriff’s Department is not releasing the names of the dead at this time.

This crash remains under investigation.
