Two new business centers to help those affected by weather in Houston

These new SBA locations will be located at the Marilyn Davies College of Business at the University of Houston Downtown, 320 N Main St., and the Trini Mendenhall Community Center, 1414 Wirt Road.

Following several disasters in the Houston area, such as tornadoes, high winds, flooding and severe storms. The centers will offer in-person and virtual assistance for free personalized advice to help Houston area businesses with the recovery process.

SBA representatives will answer questions such as navigating the disaster loan program, assistance with the application process, online help with applying for an e-loan and much more.

“As a lifelong Houstonian, this city is not only my home; it’s part of who I am. Witnessing the devastation wrought by the recent derecho, with high winds and tornadoes ripping through our communities, has been heartbreaking,” said Francisco Sánchez Jr., SBA associate administrator for the Office of Disaster Recovery and Resilience, in a statement. “The loss of eight lives is a profound tragedy and knowing that so many of our neighbors are still without power strengthens my resolve. Houston is our home, and it is our resilience as a community that will guide us through this recovery.

The centers will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
