Palm Springs Area Air Quality Warning: What You Should Know

Sustained winds and blowing dust could reduce air quality in the Coachella Valley to unsafe levels starting Friday evening, according to a warning from the South Coast AQMD this weekend.

The agency said air pollution is expected to be worst on Friday and Saturday evenings, but negative air quality is likely to be a problem throughout the valley.

How windy will it be?

Strong winds are forecast to continue across the Coachella Valley through Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. However, wind speeds and resulting impacts are expected to vary significantly, with the strongest winds expected around San Gorgonio Pass. Winds of 25 to 35 mph and gusts of over 50 mph are expected there Saturday and Sunday.
