Could Bralen Trice be the steal of the draft for Atlanta?

A lot will be asked of rookie pass rusher Bralen Trice. Although he slipped to the third round of the NFL draft, he will be tasked with rejuvenating a unit that has struggled for more than a decade to take down opposing quarterbacks.

Although they showed slight improvement last season, the Falcons are dead last in team sacks dating back to 2020 with 110.

Calais Campbell and Bud Dupree, Atlanta’s top sackers starting in 2023 at 6.5 each, are no longer under contract with the team. Arnold Ebikete, who finished with six sacks in 2023, has yet to take the next step as a threat while Zach Harrison showed flashes of potential with three sacks in his final three games last season.

Beau Morgan, executive producer of the Atlanta Falcons Radio Network and host of The Morning Shift, was filling in for Steak Shapiro on The Steakhouse on Thursday. In discussing this prospect with people within the organization, he heard a consistent message regarding the Falcons’ rookie edge rusher.

Bralen Trice “is different.”

According to its sources within the franchise, the team is excited about the prospect coming to Flowery Branch to help this group.

“(His source) didn’t see a guy that lights up when we talk about the game, that look in his eyes, that was John Abraham stuff,” Morgan said. “The fire in his eyes – he’s that guy. They were lucky to catch him when they did, for him to be there. A lot of teams are going to be upset they didn’t catch Bralen Trice.”

According to scouts, the former Washington Huskies team captain plays a physical game with a constant sense of urgency. He has an elite motor that the Falcons largely lacked.

Morgan continued, “I think, of all the draft picks at the end of the day, Bralen Trice will be the one after this season that fans will be like, ‘Whoa! That one worked!'”
