Sun Noodle issues allergy warning for undeclared egg in S&S Frozen Cup Saimin

HONOLULU, May 16, 2024–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Sun Noodle is recalling approximately 37,158 cases of S&S CUP SAIMIN manufactured between May 9, 2023 and May 8, 2024 because they may contain undeclared protein powder. Any product manufactured before May 9th^Th2023 should have already been discarded due to expiration dates. People who have an egg allergy or severe egg sensitivity are at risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction when consuming these products.

The S&S CUP SAIMIN was distributed in Hawaii, Fairfield, California; Sacramento, California; San Francisco, California; El Cerrito, California; Las Vegas, NV; Reno, NV; Provo, UT; and St. George, UT through distributors and retailers.

The following are the lot codes of the affected S&S Cup products:

Year 2023: lottery codes 1623129 – 1623365 (May 9, 2023 – December 31, 2023)
Year 2024: lottery codes 1624001 – 1624129 (January 1, 2024 – May 8, 2024)
The only batch codes affected are increments between 1623129 and 1623365 or 1624001 and 1624129. The batch code is located on the lid at the top of each S&S Saimin cup.

To date, no illnesses have been reported associated with consumption of this product.

This frozen product is sold in ready-to-heat tubs as pasta with a separate fish cake containing the allergen in question. Consumers prepare the microwave to cook and add hot water. During Sun Noodle’s routine quality testing, our suppliers’ ingredient validation revealed that protein powder was used that was not specified on our finished product labeling. As a precautionary measure, we ask consumers who purchased the S&S Cup Saimin to return it to the point of purchase for a full refund.
