Family members identify two victims killed in May 1 mass shooting

UPDATE: FOX10 News has learned the identity of a second victim killed in Saturday’s mass shooting in Stockton.

Family members tell FOX10 News that 37-year-old Chiquita Ewing was one of the three victims in the shooting.

Ewing was the mother of two boys and two girls.

Ewing’s cousin Martha Tims says the two attended the May Day event together.

Tims says everyone was having a great time until she heard several gunshots.

“Suddenly I kept hearing several shots and everyone was running away. So I went up to the first guy I saw lying down and someone seemed to be standing behind him and shot him too,” Tims said. “So I turned around and when I got there and realized it was my cousin, I just lost my mind and she was just laying there not responding or anything… it was just total chaos out there.”

Tims says several people surrounded her cousin and tried to help her.

She says her cousin was a sweet, outgoing girl who always had a smile on her face.

“I’m trying to keep it together. I just want her to know that I was by her side from the moment I knew she was laying there. I held her hand until they told me I had to move away from her side,” Tims said. “I wish this hadn’t happened to her and the other victims. I didn’t know them like I knew them and they didn’t deserve this and I hope everyone gets justice for what happened yesterday.”
