Jena Malone reveals she was sexually abused by “someone I worked with” while filming The Hunger Games

Jena Malone shares her truth.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, the 38-year-old actress said she was dealing with “a swirling mix of emotions” as she posted a photo of the French countryside taken just after the 2015s wrapped up The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2the last film in the blockbuster series.

As Malone explained, while she was “full of gratitude for this project,” she said she “went through a bad breakup and was also sexually abused by someone she worked with during filming.”

“A swirling mix of emotions, I’m just learning to process them,” she continued. “I wish it didn’t involve such a traumatic event for me, but I guess that’s the true wildness of life. How to control chaos with beauty.”

Representatives for Malone and Lionsgate did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s requests for comment on Wednesday.

While she said it’s “hard to talk about The Hunger Games and (her character) Johanna Mason without feeling the poignancy of that moment,” she said Donnie Darko star added that she’s “ready to push through and reclaim the joy and accomplishment I felt.”

“I have worked very hard to heal through restorative justice and learn how to make peace with the person who hurt me and peace with myself,” Malone also said in her caption.

Towards the end of her post, the actress sent “a lot of love to you survivors out there” and admitted that the “(healing) process is so slow and non-linear.”

“I want to say that I am here for everyone who needs to talk or take a breath or open up uncommunicated spaces within themselves. Please contact me if you need a safe space to be heard,” she concluded.

Willow Shields, who played Primrose Everdeen Hunger Games Movies, commented on Malone’s post: “This post left me speechless. I understand and hope that you are doing well, even if the process is so slow, Jena ❤️.”

Malone’s post comes six months after she said on Instagram that she had “found words that felt more right to explore her sexuality,” and that as she continued her exploration, she would use the words “pansexuality,” “sapiosexuality,” and “Polyamory” is written about her sexual identity.

In August she said The Hollywood Reporter She had been thinking about her sexuality for “a while” before making the post and it “felt so nice” to share it with her followers.

“The sexual journey is so beautiful,” he said stepmother Actress. “I mean, all identity journeys are so cool. I feel like I’m a little late to the game when it comes to feeling less ashamed. “It’s become part of humanity to have all these exclamation ceremonies about coming out, renouncing (an identity) and celebrating that space for yourself,” she added. “It’s a really sweet, human experience. I love learning more about myself, regardless of age or experience.”
