Manojkumar: Elderly man arrested for sexually assaulting a minor girl | Madurai News

Madurai: A 63-year-old man was arrested for sexually harassing a 15-year-old Class 10 girl on her way to school. The accused V. Manojkumar, 63, was a resident of Thiruparankundram. The girl lives with her mother. On July 11, when the girl was on her way to school in the morning, Manojkumar approached her with sexual intent. Though the girl warned him to stay away, he sexually harassed her. However, when the girl’s friends came to the spot, she ran away with them. The girl told her mother about the incident, who contacted the child helpline 1098. The all-women police station in Thiruparankundram registered a case against Manojkumar under the Pocso Act and arrested him on Saturday. TNN

In response, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand announced an ex-gratia donation of Rs 400,000 each to the families of the victims and an additional Rs 130,000 for repairing their houses.
