Boulder police are asking for help in locating a man involved in an attempted sexual assault and robbery

Boulder Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man involved in an attempted sexual assault and robbery on July 4.

A woman was walking south in the 700 block of Baseline Road around 6:15 p.m. when an unknown man grabbed her from behind, dragged her into a nearby underpass and took her headphones, a news release said. The man is described as a white male, approximately 30 to 40 years old and approximately 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 9 inches tall. He was wearing a navy or gray shirt and had long brown or black hair.

The woman fought back, used pepper spray and bit the man on the hand, possibly seriously injuring a finger on his right hand, the press release said. She ran to the nearby fire station to get help.

Boulder police spokeswoman Dionne Waugh said the incident occurred near the intersection of Baseline Road and Broadway.

If you see a man matching the police description or wearing silver and grey Bose headphones, please call police.

The headphones look like the ones in the photo. The crime occurred near the University of Colorado Boulder campus on the west side of Broadway, according to a police tracking map (below).
