Tuscaloosa police respond to fatal car crash Monday morning

Tuscaloosa police are on the scene of a fatal car crash near Hargrove Road Monday morning.

Stephanie Taylor, a spokeswoman for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, said officers were called to a car crash in the area of ​​Hargrove Road and 45th Street East around 8 a.m. Monday morning.

Taylor said an SUV crashed into a residential fence and a tree, prompting residents to call police and emergency medical services to the scene.

Taylor said emergency responders arrived at the scene within minutes, but the driver of the SUV did not survive and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The TPD’s Traffic Homicide Unit, which investigates nearly all fatal accidents within city limits, will be taking on the case. Updated information on the accident is expected later Monday.
