One dead, two in hospital after crash in Georgetown County

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WCSC) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash Sunday evening in Georgetown County.

The accident happened around 6:10 p.m. on Highway 17, about eight miles north of Pawleys Island, Lance Cpl. Lena Butler said.

Two vehicles were involved in the accident. The first, a 2011 Honda Accord, was traveling west while a 2023 Subaru Outback was traveling north.

There were two people in the Honda. The driver died of his injuries at the scene of the accident, while the passenger was injured and taken to a nearby hospital.

The driver of the Subaru was injured and taken to a nearby hospital.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been disclosed.

This accident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
