Omaha police arrest suspect in robbery of local restaurant Friday night

An employee said a suspect entered Voodoo Taco near 25th and Farnam streets and demanded money in the form of a note. Omaha police said Darnelle Johnson, 29, went into the restaurant at 7:30 p.m. Friday and then left on foot after presenting the note. OPD said the suspect’s description was broadcast over the radio and Johnson was later identified as a possible suspect. Investigators said Johnson matched the suspect’s description and later confessed during an interrogation at OPD headquarters. Johnson was booked into the Douglas County Jail on robbery charges. An employee said a suspect entered the Voodoo Taco near 25th and Farnam Streets and demanded money in the form of a note.

Omaha police said 29-year-old Darnelle Johnson entered the restaurant at 7:30 p.m. Friday and then left on foot after showing the note.

According to OPD, the suspect’s description was relayed over the radio and Johnson was later identified as a possible suspect.

Investigators said Johnson matched the suspect’s description and later confessed during an interview at OPD headquarters.

Johnson was booked into the Douglas County Jail on robbery charges.
