Shots fired at Trump rally: shooter and participant dead

DA: Suspected shooter and attendee dead after Trump pushed off stage by Secret Service

The Butler County district attorney confirmed that a “shooter” and an attendee are dead after shots were fired at a rally for former President Donald Trump on Saturday. Two people remain hospitalized following the shooting. Gunfire echoed across the packed agricultural show grounds less than 10 minutes after the former president took the stage. As he stood up, closer photos obtained by the Associated Press showed blood pouring from the right side of his face near his ear. Trump later said on social media that he had been hit in the ear by a bullet. A microphone picked up someone near Trump saying, “I got you, sir,” and soon after, “Hold on, your head is bloody.” Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger confirmed the deaths to Pittsburgh Action News 4 on Saturday night. The identities of the dead have not been released while state police and other agencies investigate. Two people were also injured in the shooting. A spokesperson for Allegheny Health Network said the two patients are in critical condition at Allegheny General Hospital. This story is becoming increasingly breaking. Less than ten minutes after the former president took the stage, gunshots rang out across the crowded agricultural fairgrounds.

The Secret Service rushed to Trump and surrounded him. When he stood up, closer photos obtained by the Associated Press showed blood pouring from the right side of his face near his ear.

Trump later said on social media that he had been hit by a bullet in the ear.

A microphone recorded someone near Trump saying, “I got you, sir,” and shortly thereafter, “Wait, your head is bloody.”

Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger confirmed the deaths to Pittsburgh Action News 4 on Saturday evening.

The identities of the fatalities have not yet been released while state police and other relevant authorities conduct investigations.

Two people were also injured in the shooting. A spokesman for Allegheny Health Network said the two patients were in critical condition at Allegheny General Hospital.
