1 person killed in car crash near North Augusta

NORTH AUGUSTA, SC (WRDW/WAGT) – One person was killed in a traffic crash near North Augusta Saturday evening, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

According to police, it happened at 7:50 p.m. on Ascauga Lake Road near Chalk Bed Road.

According to police, a 2010 Nissan Altima was traveling toward Ascauga Lake when it veered off the right side of the road and struck a mailbox and a tree.

The driver was the only person in the car; according to police, both died at the scene of the accident.

The accident is currently being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
