Man arrested after hit-and-run accident in Chesapeake Bay, police said

CPD responded to a call reporting a possible intoxicated driver involved in a hit-and-run crash on South Military Highway.

CHESAPEAKE, Virginia – A man was arrested Friday night for a hit-and-run, the Chesapeake Police Department (CPD) said.

CPD responded to a call reporting a possible intoxicated driver involved in a hit-and-run crash on South Military Highway near the Virginia Beach city limits.

An officer saw the suspect driving on Military Highway and attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver did not stop, so the traffic stop turned into a chase.

The suspect was arrested after the vehicle stopped on Buttonwood Street. Since the suspect was intoxicated and involved in an accident, he was taken to the hospital.

Police believe charges are still pending.
