Former National Post columnist suspends bid for local Conservative nomination

A high-profile candidate for the Conservative nomination in Aurora-Oak Ridges-Richmond Hill is suspending her campaign because of what she calls “evidence of a corrupt process.”

Sabrina Maddeaux, a former National Post columnist, said she had lost confidence in the integrity of the local nomination race and accused the Conservative Party of failing to crack down on “highly unethical and potentially illegal efforts.”

“Given my values, why I chose this race in the first place, and my track record of standing up for what’s right, I have no other choice,” Maddeaux said in a video posted to X (formerly Twitter). “I cannot in good conscience continue to be part of this process.”
