Man arrested after fatal shooting in Red Bird, seen on surveillance video

A man facing murder charges in connection with the fatal 2023 Red Bird shooting was seen with another suspect shooting the victim before driving away, an arrest warrant affidavit says.

Justin Greer, 28, was arrested last week and charged with the murder of Shamiron Knight, 25, who was shot and killed in March 2023. According to police, officers responded to the 6900 block of the Marvin D. Love Freeway near West Camp Wisdom Road at around 1:20 p.m. on March 24, 2023, and found Knight suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to the affidavit, witnesses told police they saw one man shoot Greer, while another man seen with him was shot in the leg before both fled in a silver sedan. Police later learned that a man matching the description of one of the men was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the leg, the affidavit said.

Police went to the hospital and interviewed the man, identified as Greer, the affidavit states. Greer was interviewed by police as a witness and told police the other man shot Knight before they both fled, the affidavit states.

Three days later, police obtained surveillance footage that showed both Greer and the other man shooting at Knight before Greer suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, the affidavit states. Police obtained a warrant for Greer’s arrest that same day.

The affidavit does not specify how Greer was shot during the incident. The identity of the second shooter is not mentioned in the affidavit.

Greer remained in the Dallas County Jail on $100,000 bail Friday. It was unclear if he had an attorney.
