The flight path of the plane carrying a family from metropolitan Atlanta was due to stormy weather, the agency said.

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – The federal government has released new information about a small plane crash that killed an entire family in metro Atlanta.

A single-engine Piper PA-46 crashed around 2 p.m. Sunday near Sidney, New York. The plane was carrying a family from metropolitan Atlanta returning from a baseball tournament in Cooperstown, New York.

The victims have been identified as Roger Beggs, 76, his daughter Laura Van Epps, 43, her husband Ryan Van Epps, 42, and their two children James Van Epps, 12, and Harrison Van Epps, 10.

According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), stormy weather conditions occurred along the flight path. The NTSB will not release its final report for at least a year.
