Family members honor 18-year-old killed in Upper Land Park shooting

Family members are demanding justice for a life that ended far too soon in Sacramento. Loved ones identified Daani Partridge as the man shot and killed this weekend in Upper Land Park. He died just weeks after his 18th birthday. On Wednesday, family and friends held a vigil near Partridge’s childhood home, describing him as an inspiration to their family and community, adding that he planned to go to college. His mother said she was extremely proud of his recent high school graduation. Sacramento police said officers responded to reports of a shooting around noon Sunday and found a man with at least one gunshot wound. He later died at the hospital. No arrests were made. Community activist Berry Accius called on the young people in attendance to be part of the solution and encouraged them to turn anger and pain into action. “No hugging. No apologizing. No apology can ever change what they’ve lost,” he said. “One thing I know is that with the power of community, we can change anything.”Anita Razo, who lost her own son to gun violence in 2022, also attended the vigil to show her support for the family. “As a mother who lost her child to gun violence in 2022, I feel for the mother,” she said. “I know what she’s going through right now, and it just brings back all the memories that I had to go through in those first few days after losing my son. It’s horrible.”Sacramento Police are urging any witnesses with information about this investigation to contact the dispatch center at (916) 808-5471 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP (4357).
