Tesla recalls Cybertrucks again – WFTV

The recalled vehicles include Cybertrucks manufactured between November 13 and May 26. The windshield problem also affects other vehicles manufactured between May 26 and June 6, according to a safety recall report from the NHTSA.

In total, almost 11,700 vehicles will be recalled.

The issue affecting most Cybertrucks revolves around the windshield wiper motor, which can sometimes fail, increasing the likelihood of a collision in low visibility. The problem first emerged in February and was traced to a motor receiving too much power during testing.

Tesla will replace the windshield wiper motor on affected vehicles free of charge to the driver.

The second issue concerns a trim applique on the trunk bed liner that may not have been installed correctly, creating a risk of the applique becoming loose.

“If the application becomes detached from the vehicle while driving, it may pose a hazard to following drivers and increase their risk of injury or collision,” a safety recall report states.

“A loose application can cause a noticeable noise in the interior. In addition, the customer may observe that the application is coming loose or detaching from the vehicle.”

A Cybertruck was found to be missing the app in December after a vehicle transporter transported it to a Tesla delivery center. No further issues were identified until May 11, when a customer reported a missing app. In the weeks that followed, several more cases of loose or detached apps were discovered, triggering the recall.

Tesla will replace or rework the application on affected vehicles free of charge to the customer.

The company said earlier this month that it was not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the recalls. Owners will be notified of both incidents by mail on August 18.
