Iowa WR Kaleb Brown arrested for drunk driving: report

Iowa Hawkeyes wide receiver Kaleb Brown was arrested Sunday morning for driving under the influence and possession of a fake ID, The Gazette reported.

Brown was seen backing a car into a lawn near his home in Iowa City, spinning the tires.

When police arrived on the scene, they reportedly found significant damage to the front of Brown’s car, including a front wheel that was turned sideways.

Police officials claimed Brown had “bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech, impaired balance and a strong odor of alcohol.” He refused to take a breathalyzer test.

According to police, Brown was found to be “in possession of a completely fake” driver’s license.

The junior wide receiver, a former transfer from Ohio State to the Hawkeyes, is Iowa’s top returning wide receiver ahead of the 2024 football season and is expected to play a prominent role in the team’s revamped offense under new coordinator Tim Lester.

Brown caught 22 passes for 215 yards and a touchdown and averaged 9.8 yards per pass. He led the team with 39 yards in the Hawkeyes’ loss in the Citrus Bowl.

Brown signed with Ohio State as part of the 2022 recruiting cycle for the Chicago, Illinois-based football team.

He was ranked as the No. 20 wide receiver and the 107th most promising player in the nation by the average of the four national recruiting services.
