The grand jury indicts a man for “brutal attack” on a woman at hotel north of Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A Franklin County grand jury has indicted a man accused of the fatal “brutal attack” on a woman at a north Columbus hotel.

In the six-count indictment unsealed Monday, 36-year-old Arthur Scott Jr. is charged with aggravated murder, aggravated burglary, kidnapping, rape and strangulation in the killing of 61-year-old Li-Chu Lin.

Franklin County Municipal Court court documents say Columbus Division of Police officers were called to the Double Ten Hotel at 6125 Zumstein Drive on April 26 on a report of a woman found dead. When officers arrived, they found Lin suffering injuries from a “brutal attack.”

According to court documents, investigators obtained video from the hotel that shows Scott walking down the hallway looking for unlocked doors. He then entered a room and Lin entered the same room shortly after. After an unknown amount of time, Scott was seen on video leaving the room.

Lin was found naked in the room with obvious physical injuries. Investigators found evidence that there had been other crimes, including rape.

On Saturday, Scott was found near the hotel and taken into custody. During his questioning, court records say he admitted to Lin’s murder and other crimes.

According to the indictment, the grand jury determined that Scott was a repeat violent offender, citing a criminal case that took place on May 28, 2020.

When Scott appeared in city court last month, he was issued a $2 million bond. He is scheduled to appear in Franklin County Court of Common Pleas on Wednesday.
