BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Devane Nicholi Lonard Clarke, 25, assistant principal at Cambridge Elementary School in Cocoa and president of the Palm Bay West Little League, was arrested on charges of inappropriate communication with a minor after police investigators recovered more than 11,000 deleted “explicit and provocative” text messages between the suspect and the victim, a former student.

Last week, Palm Bay Police officers notified Cocoa Police that Clarke was having an inappropriate relationship with a minor. According to police, Clarke’s Apple Watch was turned over to Palm Bay Police officers after the watch was discovered to contain inappropriate images of a former student.

Cocoa police officers then went to Cambridge Elementary School, where they asked Clarke to surrender his phone. Clarke complied and then went to the Cocoa Police Station for questioning.

Cocoa police officials said that during questioning, Clarke admitted to communicating with his former students via Messenger and Snapchat. Cocoa investigators said they found more than 11,000 deleted text messages between the suspect and the victim that were “explicit and provocative,” including images of the victim “half-naked” and in “compromising positions.”

According to police, Clarke confessed to having an inappropriate relationship with the underage student. He was subsequently arrested and booked with Cocoa Police and then taken to the Brevard County Jail, where he was released on bail on Saturday.
