Woman dies in car crash while walking in Connecticut

A 59-year-old woman died late Friday when she was struck by a car on a Norwalk street, police said.

Norwalk police reported that the Norwalk dispatch center received a 911 call shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Friday requesting a response to Riverside Avenue and Riverside Cemetery. A traffic accident with injuries was reported, in which a pedestrian was struck.

Norwalk Police Department, Norwalk Fire Department and Norwalk Hospital EMS
were dispatched to the scene of the accident and patrol officers and firefighters began providing medical care to the pedestrian, police said.

She was treated for serious injuries by emergency services and later succumbed to her injuries, police said.

The Norwalk Police Department’s forensic team responded to the accident and took over the investigation together with accident reconstruction experts, police said.
