Muncie man arrested after drug deals with confidential sources

MUNCIE, Ind. – A Muncie man was arrested on multiple counts of drug trafficking after Muncie police reportedly made drug deals with confidential sources.

According to court documents filed Tuesday, 25-year-old Nathan Johnson was arrested on the following charges:

  • One count of trafficking in narcotics over 10 grams, a Level 2 felony
  • One count of meth trafficking over 10 grams, a Level 2 felony
  • Two counts of trafficking in a narcotic drug in excess of one gram, a Level 4 felony
  • One count of maintaining a public order, a Level 6 felony.

According to the documents, the first reported exchange between Johnson and the confidential source took place on June 14 in south Muncie. After the conversation, the two completed a drug deal, and the source subsequently gave investigators a “clear bag containing a purple, powdery substance” that was reportedly purchased during the transaction.

On Monday, the department conducted another transaction between Johnson and a confidential source. During that exchange, Johnson asked the source to come to his residence on S. Liberty St. in Muncie. As with the previous exchange, the source reportedly received a clear bag containing “a purple rock-like substance,” which he then turned over to police.

In the afternoon, officials said Johnson was arrested at a Walgreens store in Madison. According to documents, the following items were found in Johnson’s vehicle:

  • Digital scales
  • Sandwich bags
  • US currency
  • Ziploc bag containing 5.7 grams of fentanyl, more than 25 grams of heroin and 6.2 grams of methamphetamine.

After obtaining a search warrant, police searched Johnson’s apartment and reportedly found additional fentanyl, heroin and methamphetamine, totaling over 250 grams.
