Air Quality Warning for Saturday, Sunday and Monday for parts of the region – WHIO TV 7 and WHIO Radio

DAYTON – An air quality warning has been issued for parts of the Miami Valley due to high temperatures.

The air quality warning was issued for Saturday, Sunday and Monday for Clark, Darke, Greene, Miami, Montgomery and Preble counties.

An air quality index (AQI) of 101 or higher is considered “unhealthy for sensitive groups.”

The AQI forecast for Saturday is 101, for Sunday 119 and for Monday 105.

The National Weather Service predicts temperatures will rise to 35 to 40 degrees Celsius over the weekend, with plenty of sunshine and light winds.

These conditions are favorable for the formation of ground-level ozone, explained the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission.

The general public is not expected to be affected and most people can exercise outdoors but should take more breaks and engage in less strenuous activities, advises the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission.
