HD BMX hosts fundraiser for family of teenager killed in dirt bike accident

A BMX race track in Hesperia is planning a fundraiser to benefit the family of a 14-year-old boy who died in a dirt bike accident.

All proceeds from the Monday night, June 17, races at HD BMX will be donated to the family of Dylan Martinez, officials said.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and Coroner’s Office, Martinez was killed in a collision with a vehicle on June 10 while riding a mini dirt bike at the corner of Farmington Street and Cottonwood Avenue.

The Hesperia teenager was preparing for his freshman year at Oak Hills High School, relatives said.

“We will be hosting a race in honor and memory of Dylan Martinez,” HD BMX announced on social media.

“All proceeds go to the Martinez family. Everyone is welcome,” the statement said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the Martinez family.”
