Driver arrested after hit-and-run in Manchester that left teenager injured

Police identified the driver as 26-year-old Catherine Fryer of Hartford, who was arrested after investigators received help from the public.

MANCHESTER, Connecticut — The driver of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash in Manchester on Friday that injured a teenager on an electric scooter has been arrested, city police said Sunday.

According to police, 26-year-old Catherine Fryer of Hartford is accused of evading responsibility, endangering minors, driving while license revoked, misuse of a license plate and inadequate insurance coverage, among other things.

On Friday, officers were called at 6:57 a.m. to a crash involving a car and an electric scooter at the intersection of West Middle Turnpike and New State Road.

A 15-year-old who was on his scooter to school at the time was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Investigators determined that the vehicle involved, a green Nissan Altima, had already left the scene before officers arrived. Police said they were eventually able to locate the driver, identified as Fryer, with the help of the public.

Fryer was held on $100,000 bail and is expected in Manchester Superior Court on July 8.
