The Best Luxury High-Rise Apartments in Houston

Llive a luxurious a lifestyle with amenities just steps from our front door would make us feel like we’re at an all-inclusive resort every day. And the Inner Loop has plenty to offer high earners who don’t mind splurging on rent.

Walking the streets of Houston, it’s evident that more and more skyscrapers are being built each year to accommodate the influx of people wanting to live in the city’s trendiest neighborhoods or simply shorten a long commute. Over the past decade, an estimated 30 complexes of 10 stories or more have sprung up in Houston. This new construction has added some density that the city otherwise lacked, even if not all neighbors are happy with the towering newcomers (you’re looking, Ashby skyscraper protesters). With so many options, apartment complex owners are fighting over who can attract the most people and how. We pretended to be rich for a day and visited a few places with luxury amenities to see how they compared.

The Driscoll at River Oaks (est. 2021)

Houston is home to nine Hanover skyscrapers, including the Hanover Montrose towering over the empty Kroger Disco lot and the brand new Hanover Autry Park. One of Hanover’s most impressive properties is the 30-story Driscoll in River Oaks. Most amenities are located on level eight, where there is a large residents’ lounge equipped with a kitchen with a gas stove, making it the perfect place to dine. This community space also has conference rooms that can be used during a work-from-home day and two home theater rooms, so you don’t even have to leave your building to watch a movie on the big screen .

The level also offers breathtaking views of the city center from its outdoor terrace and a magnificent swimming pool with lounge chairs and cabanas for the summer. Meanwhile, gym enthusiasts will love Driscoll’s comprehensive fitness center, featuring an on-demand room offering classes via TV and a new outdoor workout area with turf. The resort even has an on-site pet spa to pamper your four-legged friends.

The one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartments at this Hanover property measure nearly 700 square feet and cost about $2,100 per month. The one we visited had modern finishes and great features like an electric range, deep farmhouse sink, dry bar, and tons of storage space in the kitchen.

Westcott Memorial Park (established 2022)

Westcott Memorial Park is 11 stories tall just outside of Houston’s largest green space. Tenants have access to suites, by far the best amenity in the building, and a wraparound terrace with a large entertainment area with a kitchen, wine bar, and piano lounge. Additionally, the space can be rented for a private party. The building also has a club room, media lounge, bar, games room and coworking spaces.

As for the outdoor space, let’s just say we wanted to put on our swimsuits and tan. There are plenty of lounge chairs, cabanas that remind us of a Las Vegas hotel, and an entertainment area with grills. The fitness area, which might make us cancel our gym membership, even has a wellness room ideal for yoga. Westcott’s dry cleaning and concierge service includes home delivery.

Depending on the floor plan, rents currently range from $2,500 to $9,000, but prices tend to fluctuate throughout the year.

Elev8 (founded in 2023)

If you love living downtown, consider Elev8, a half-century-old 20-story office building transformed into a luxury skyscraper last year (a growing trend in an effort to combat high vacancy rates in the city center). As a result of this conversion, the units have partially exposed industrial ceilings which might keep some people away, but they reminded us of an episode of New girlso no break for us here.

The building has great amenities, including an indoor swimming pool heated in winter, a gym, a dining room and other community spaces. However, the star of the show is the apartment you’ll live in. The one-bedroom unit we toured was small but practical, with various modern finishes, a gas stove, a wine fridge, and a working Amazon Alexa with built-in speakers and smart home technology. Meanwhile, the bathroom has LED vanity mirrors that make us feel like we’re in a fancy hotel room (and we wish we had something).
similar for our daily makeup routine).

Other big perks: Wi-Fi is included and electricity can run for 7 to 9 cents per watt.
well below the Houston average. This might help you save a few pennies…
and you will need it. A 733-square-foot one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment currently costs about $2,000 per month.
