Man killed after shooting near party in Kansas City, Missouri

KANSAS CITY, Missouri — A man is dead after being shot near a party in Kansas City early Saturday morning, according to Kansas City police.

KCPD said officers were called to the corner of 50th Street and Prospect Avenue shortly after 4 a.m. for a 911 call about a party down the street.


When officers arrived, they found a man lying in the street, unresponsive and suffering from gunshot wounds. According to KCPD, officers rendered medical aid at the scene until emergency responders arrived. They later confirmed that the man had died.

Police said the circumstances of the shooting are currently unknown and no one is in custody, but homicide detectives and crime scene experts are already beginning to collect evidence and witness statements.

This is an ongoing investigation and is being treated as a homicide, according to KCPD.
