Person hit and killed on Interstate 25 after wild animal crossing

State police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash on Interstate 25 in Socorro. According to New Mexico State Police, a deer crossed the interstate near mile marker 161, causing a vehicle to spin out of control and roll over into the median. The police investigation began around 5:30 a.m. Friday, May 31. Your Neighborhood: Local News from KOAT Action 7 News After the rollover, 22-year-old Adriana Jurado was picking up debris and belongings from the crash when she was struck in the northbound lanes. The driver of the vehicle, described as a white sedan, left the area. Jurado died at the scene of the crash. The make and model of the vehicle involved is unknown. State police say there was significant front-end damage to the driver’s side of the vehicle. NMSP is continuing its investigation into the fatal pedestrian crash on the interstate.
