Shooting in Longmont leaves one dead and one injured

DENVER (KDVR) — One man was killed and another injured when an altercation in Longmont ended in a shootout.

On Thursday at 11:28 p.m., Longmont police were called to a shooting at a home in the 4000 block of Hawthorne Place next to Dry Creek Community Park.


When officers arrived, they found a 27-year-old man dead from a gunshot wound.

According to investigators, there was an argument between four men. However, it is unclear to investigators what led to the dispute.

During the altercation, police said “both parties” fired shots, killing one and injuring another. The injured man was shot in the arm and taken to a local hospital, where his injury was deemed non-life-threatening.

Longmont police are currently interviewing the other two people connected to the shooting. They are also asking anyone living in the area to come forward with surveillance video. Residents should bring their cameras with them starting Thursday between 11 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.
