Two people arrested for arson and public drunkenness after incident leads to murder

Parker’s autopsy ruled the death a homicide. Olivas and Wilcox were also charged with arson. Both are currently being held in the Howard County Jail.

BIG SPRING, Texas – At approximately 12:10 a.m. on May 23, Big Spring Police officers responded to a 911 call regarding suspicious subjects at the Quick Track convenience store on the corner of 3rd and Owens in Big Spring, but the suspects left the store in a black 2000 Ford pickup truck before officers arrived.

The vehicle was later found at the corner of 8th Street and Caylor, where officers made contact with Eric Olivas, 21, and Amber Wilcox, 19, who reported an altercation with 55-year-old Sidney Parker at his home.

Both Olivas and Wilcox sustained injuries and were treated by emergency services.

Officers were then sent to Parker’s home to check on his welfare.

When officers arrived at Parker’s home, they discovered a small fire and Parker’s body with signs of blunt force trauma.

Criminal Investigation was notified and Olivas and Wilcox were arrested for public intoxication after their injuries were treated.

The case remains under investigation. No further information has been provided.
