Former Machesney Park Mayor Steve Kuhn dies at 79 | MyStateline

MACHESNEY PARK, Ill. (WTVO) – Former Machensey Park Mayor Steve Kuhn has died.

Kuhn served as the third mayor of Machesney Park from 1994 to 2001 and led the development of the Route 173 business corridor.


Kuhn, a graduate of Harlem High School and Northern Illinois University, served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Village Plan Commission in 1988 and a Village Trustee from 1989 to 1994.

“During his tenure, Mayor Kuhn was known for his commitment to the growth and development of Machesney Park. His vision and leadership played a critical role in the development of the village into the vibrant community it is today,” the village said in a statement.

Accordingly his obituaryKuhn was a vintage car collector and friend of Jody Deery and the Rockford Speedway.

Current Mayor Steve Johnson said, “Steve Kuhn was a pillar of our community whose leadership and dedication left a lasting mark on Machesney Park. He was not only a public servant, but a true friend to many. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. We are forever grateful for his service and the positive changes he brought to our village.”

He was 79 years old.
