85-year-old woman struck and killed while crossing Monmouth County Road

Authorities said the fatal accident was still under investigation.



SPRING LAKE, NJ — An 85-year-old woman was killed Saturday when she was struck by a car while crossing Allaire Road, the Monmouth County District Attorney’s Office said Sunday.

The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was crossing Allaire Road at Old Mill Road when he was struck around 1:20 p.m., prosecutors said.

The investigation revealed that a 70-year-old man driving a 2023 Nissan Rogue was attempting to turn left from the south side of Old Mill Road onto eastbound Allaire Road when he struck the woman, prosecutors said.

The woman’s death was confirmed at 1:56 p.m., the public prosecutor’s office said. The driver was still at the scene.

The Monmouth County District Attorney’s Office, the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART) and the Spring Lake Heights Police Department responded.

So far, no charges have been filed or subpoenas issued.
