The stuntwoman died when she was thrown through a glass pane while riding her motorcycle

A shocking recording of the emergency call following the death of a stuntwoman on a film set has been released.

Joi ‘SJ’ Harris, a professional motorcycle racer from New York, worked as a stuntwoman on the film set of Deadpool 2 in 2017, when she lost control of her bicycle and crashed through a glass pane.

In the accident in Vancouver, Canada, SJ flew through the air after hitting a curb and then crashed in the lobby of the Shaw Tower.

SJ was reportedly not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident. It was later revealed that she had died a tragic death.

A bystander’s harrowing emergency call shows the shock of viewers after SJ fell through the window.

The caller can be heard saying: “The actor lost control, flew across the street, over a curb and through a window into a building across the street. Just so you know, the stunt actor was thrown through the window into the building.”

The discussion continues in the conversation and it turns out that SJ is not moving at the scene of the accident.

Vancouver Police confirmed her death in a statement: “Vancouver Police can confirm that a stunt driver died on the set of Dead Pool while performing a stunt on a motorcycle. VPD officers are on scene, along with officers from WorkSafeBC. More information will be released as it becomes available.”

WorkSafeBC then followed up with its own statement, saying: “WorkSafeBC was contacted by Vancouver Police at 8:31am this morning regarding a serious incident in the 1000 block of West Waterfront Road, Van BC. WorkSafeBC has five officers on scene.”

It continues: “Two officers are checking the site for acute problems in the area of ​​occupational health and safety. Three officers are investigating the incident for cause and prevention in accordance with the Occupational Accident Act and the Occupational Safety Ordinance.”

The dismay at the incident was also clearly evident in the eyewitness reports. One of those involved described it as follows: “People were running on the sidewalk, then the motorcycle came flying across the street, it looked like it had come off a ramp because it was in the air.”

“(The victim) was on the bike and hit the building. It was clearly hit and run and it was clearly not planned.”

They added: “It was so out of control, it looked like an accident.”

After her tragic death, SJ was honored with tributes from, among others, Dead Pool Star Ryan Reynolds, who wrote about his “heartbreak” over her death.

He wrote on his social media accounts at the time: “Today we tragically lost a member of our crew during filming Dead Pool. We are heartbroken, shocked and devastated… but we realize that nothing can describe the grief and inexplicable pain her family and loved ones must be feeling at this time.”

“My sincere condolences go out to you – and to every single person she touched in this world.”

Friends and family of SJ shared their grief over her loss as they posted on their Facebook page after news of her death broke. Irvondra Boyce-El shared the sad news as they wrote that “she was on the set of the Dead Pool Movie.” One person replied: “I LOVE YOU SISTER.”

Another shared: “This just sucks. I’m so sorry for the loss of her friends and family. SJ was truly amazing.”

“RIP… my heart is broken… just spoke to her…” said a third.
