First weather alert: Yellow alert ended – much calmer weather returns

ROCHESTER, NY — The storms that raged through Wednesday afternoon resulted in power outages and a handful of damage reports in the Finger Lakes. These include a tree on a home in Penn Yan and a tree on a porch in Phelps. The storm threat decreases significantly overnight, and by Thursday we will see much calmer weather with clear skies and more pleasant air and humidity levels. Friday looks beautiful with sunshine and mild air.

The holiday weekend will be a mixed bag, with some showers or thunderstorms developing later on Saturday, while Sunday looks nice and dry. Some rain is still forecast for Memorial Day itself, but it is unlikely to be a rainstorm at this time. Still, some thunderstorms are possible, so keep an eye on the timing of any rain and storms over the weekend.
