Vehicle crashes into Lawrence; Police launch OVWI investigation

LAWRENCE, Ind. – Lawrence Police have launched an OVWI investigation in the 6600 block of Sunnyside Road after a car struck a home in the area.

An LPD spokesperson told FOX59 and CBS4 that officers were first dispatched to Sunnyside Drive around 5:36 p.m. after receiving reports of an accident in which a driver had struck a home. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered a man showing “obvious signs” of being drunk.

FOX59 and CBS4 teams on scene saw a home with damaged brick and a truck being towed from the area.

A witness helped police identify the man as the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident. LPD reported that the man was arrested and subsequently treated by doctors.

The man was transported to Eskenazi Hospital so officers could continue their OVWI investigation, according to LPD.

Police said there was no one in the house at the time of the accident. LPD reported no injuries.
