This week’s road closures around Youngstown, Ohio

(WKBN) – Construction season is in full swing across the valley. Here are some areas drivers may want to avoid.

New effects

Champion Township


Starting Monday, eastbound State Route 5 west of Park Avenue will be reduced to one lane for erosion control purposes. The closure is expected to last until mid-June.

Ongoing work

Board member
Construction continues on Western Reserve Road and will be closed at the Market Street intersection for approximately another week. The closure will allow construction crews to lay a fiberglass bank and install a cross culvert.

Niles

The following routes have different lane restrictions for resurfacing: State Route 46 between Robbins Avenue and Niles Vienna Road; and State Route 169 between State Route 46 and west of US 422. Work is expected to be completed by the end of August.

Vernon Parish

State Route 5 will be closed north of Bushnell Campbell Road through the end of May for a bridge replacement project. Motorists should take the detour from State Route 88 to State Route 7.

Youngstown

West Federal Street between Market Street and Phelps Street will remain closed until August 1st.

Upcoming construction work

Howland Township

Further work on the Diverging Diamond Interchange is due to begin from Sunday 19 May, with new impacts on traffic. State Route 46 under State Route 82 will be closed until 8 a.m. Thursday, May 23, for bridge removal.

The northbound detour will be via State Route 82 eastbound, State Route 193 and State Route 82 westbound. The southbound detour will be via State Route 82 westbound, toward State Route 5, toward State Route 82 eastbound, toward State Route 46.
