Motorcyclist and passenger die in police chase in El Cajon

EL CAJON, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) – A motorcyclist and his passenger are dead after police said they fled a traffic stop in El Cajon late Saturday night.

El Cajon police report officers attempted to stop a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle with two occupants for a traffic violation in the 1700 block of East Main Street at 11:38 p.m. Saturday


Officers report the driver failed to stop and fled west on Main Street at a high rate of speed.

According to El Cajon police, after breaking away from the pursuing officer, the motorcycle collided with the rear of a Toyota Tacoma and Hyundai Sonata in the 1300 block of East Main Street.

The male driver and female passenger on the motorcycle, both 42 years old, were seriously injured and both died at the scene while receiving medical attention from El Cajon police officers and firefighters.

Police have not yet released the identities of the driver and passenger and are awaiting notification of their families.

According to police, the occupants of the Tacoma and Sonata were uninjured and were cooperating with the investigation.
