Bryce Elder and the Braves look to complete sweep in New York

The Atlanta Braves will look to make it five wins in a row on Sunday when they conclude a three-game series against the New York Mets at Citi Field. Bryce Elder will start for Atlanta while the Mets will opt for right-hander Luis Severino.

Atlanta clinched a series victory with a 4-1 win Saturday and moved closer to its first no-hitter since 1994. The Braves improved to 24-12 this season and enter Sunday two games behind the Phillies from Philadelphia.

Elder looks to bounce back after a rough outing in his last start against the Dodgers where he was tagged for seven runs in just 3 13 sleeves. The eldest rolled 6 23 scoreless innings in his season debut against the Marlins. He has struggled with walks in two starts since his debut, dishing out eight free passes in his last 8. 23 sleeves. Elder made two starts against the Mets last season, where he allowed five runs in 11 13 combined sleeves.

Right-hander Luis Severino signed with the Mets during the offseason in hopes of revitalizing his career after an injury ended his tenure with the Yankees. Severino played well from the start, posting a 2.93 ERA and 3.38 FIP over his first seven starts with the Mets. He will look to bounce back from a rough start where he walked a season-high six batters while allowing four runs in five innings against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Atlanta outscored the Mets 8-3 in the series and beat them 4-2. Orlando Arcia got the scoring started Saturday with a two-run shot against Mets rookie Christian Scott in the third inning. Leading the way with three hits was Michael Harris, who ended an 0-for-29 skid and made two nice catches to center field.

Sunday’s game will be featured on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball and is scheduled to start at 7:10 p.m. ET.
