Bus Driver Attacked in South LA – NBC Los Angeles

A DASH bus driver was beaten in an altercation that was caught on video in the South Los Angeles area Sunday afternoon.

The confrontation was reported near Central Avenue and Jefferson Boulevard around 1 p.m. A video showed the woman hitting the driver at the bus entrance and on the sidewalk.

At some point the bus driver seemed to turn his back on the woman. She was then hit from behind as she bent down to pick something up.

Officers arrested the woman on suspicion of assault. Details about her identity were initially unknown.

NBCLA has reached out to DASH for details. The driver was treated at the scene and released.

It was not immediately clear what led to the part of the altercation that was caught on video.

Bus operators have recently been attacked several times in Los Angeles.

A Hawthorne man who allegedly stabbed a subway bus driver in the chest in the unincorporated Willowbrook area on April 13 pleaded not guilty to attempted murder on April 29. The Metro bus operator was traveling on his bus route “when the suspect began yelling at him,” according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

In March, a gunman hijacked a Metro bus and crashed into a hotel in downtown Los Angeles.
