Weather warning: Very heavy rain expected on Tuesday

There is a risk of heavy rainfall, which may lead to isolated flooding.

BUFFALO, NY — A weather advisory has been issued for Tuesday; the main concern is the threat of very heavy rainfall due to thunderstorms, which could lead to isolated flooding.

Tuesday morning will be cloudy, with thunderstorms developing in the afternoon, especially after 2 p.m., and continuing into the evening. Some of these thunderstorms could bring torrential rain, and there is a risk of flooding in places where there are multiple thunderstorms in a short period of time.

The very warm and humid air mass increases the risk of excessive precipitation in some areas. In many areas, rainfall of 1 inch or more is possible in some of these thunderstorms.

Localized flooding can develop quickly if an area is affected by a thunderstorm for more than 20 to 30 minutes. The thunderstorms will mainly last into Tuesday evening and will ease overnight.
