Police identify woman shot in Meriden – NBC Connecticut

Meriden police continue to investigate the death of a 28-year-old woman who was shot during a fight Monday night.

Police have identified the victim as 28-year-old Beth Ndwiga of Meriden.

Officers found them when they rushed to the 100 block of State Street shortly after 10 p.m. Monday to investigate reports of gunshots.

Early Tuesday morning, police searched Meriden Green for evidence while other detectives followed up on leads and identified a woman they said was suspected of being involved in the argument preceding the shooting.

Around noon Tuesday, investigators focused their search on West Main Street, saying a woman who may have been involved in the incident lived in an apartment there.

Police believe the woman was with an unidentified man at the time of the shooting.

According to police, the weapon has not yet been found.

During their investigation, investigators evacuated several residents on Tuesday, closed several streets and diverted traffic.

They also obtained a search warrant and the SWAT team entered the apartment, but no one was there.

Police said on Tuesday evening that investigations into the apartment were still ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Sergeant John Wagner at (203) 630-6334.
